What are some children's stories that might be useful to put out?

The Dysfunctional Genie

The genie is a great Deus Ex Machina. Problem, like the real-world Deus Ex Machina, everything comes with a price, overhead, consequences, and the net effect is almost always negative.

Q: Is the genie well-meaning?

Q: How does the story end? Is the genie sent away, or is a wish used for the genie to stop granting wishes using its special powers?

Q: How is the metaphor made sufficiently obvious? Is it in the story or in a separate explanatory section? Is there an appropriately anvilicious moral statement at the end?
